Built on the original Tic Trainer program created by Jonathan K. Black and Kevin J. Black.

The Suppression tool is built on Tic Trainer, a tool created by Kevin J. Black and Jonathan K. Black. This tool provides a simple, game-style approach to building an individual’s ability to comfortably extend the length of intervals between tics. By extending the interval, the individual is able to earn points and gain levels.

Set it up

Choose duration and starting level

Sessions run 5, 10, or 15 minutes. Set a starting level — most people find Level 1 easiest to begin with, or use a level your therapist has suggested. Tap the screen each time a tic occurs and try to hold back between taps; your tic count is revealed at the end.

During the session

“I noticed”

A running Level and Points total stays on screen as you go. Tap the moment a tic occurs — extending the interval since your last tap is what earns points and moves you up a level.
